This was the major surprise for Tad. I hired a guide to
take us rock climbing at Lovers Leap for two days. This
will be our first time doing multi-pitch routes. As well
as learning how to trad climb. Trad climbing is where you
put protection in the cracks.
The guide took us to the front side of the Hogsback,
which is a long, slabby hump of granite about 400 feet high
located just north of Lovers Leap. Once we climb to the
top and we can get an unrestricted view of the formidable
cliffs. The North face looks down on the American River
and Highway 50 (unfortunately). Thought the central walls
located behind, are secluded and you would think youre in
the middle of nowhere, and that people are hundreds of
miles away.
