Tad's Birthday Weekend: Scaling Mount Tallac, Lake Tahoe, CA

Danielle: There were lots of stream crossings early on. I remember one in particular. We had to cross a rushing river, by using a log that was on the edge of a rocky cascade, with one fragile branch to use. What I didn't know at the time, around the corner it dropped off about 30 ft. If I fell, I'd be swept away, banged up all over the rocks, then Plunge.

Tad neglected to tell me this. It's a wonder he even got me across. My shoes were soaked from the previous crossings, the log was narrow and slippery and as I'm moving across I grab the branch for balance, and I hear this crack, and tad yells out "Just use it for balance". Great ...just great!

Tad: Ahh... She speaks loudly, but she really enjoyed it (grin). I'm not sure exactly where along the trail this shot was taken, but the cloud with the trees, snow, and rocky summits just looked too beautiful to pass up.
