There were lots of stream crossings early on. I remember one in
particular. We had to cross a rushing river, by using a log that
was on the edge of a rocky cascade, with one fragile branch to use.
What I didn't know at the time, around the corner it dropped off
about 30 ft. If I fell, I'd be swept away, banged up all over the
rocks, then Plunge.
Tad neglected to tell me this. It's a wonder he even got me across.
My shoes were soaked from the previous crossings, the log was narrow
and slippery and as I'm moving across I grab the branch for balance,
and I hear this crack, and tad yells out "Just use it for balance".
Great ...just great!
