(Saturday, October 13, 2001) Near the top of the valley, getting close to the cliff face mentioned earlier, I stopped for a view down into the valley. My campsite was on the right side of the lake, where you see the granite island and rock right down to the edge of the lake. The elevation here where I am taking the picture is over 8,000 feet. The lake is slightly lower.
